Key Hitting Quirks Hitting quirks usually help with your Plate Coverage Indicator (PCI) or improve exit velocity depending on the pitch type or situation. Here are the most important ones: Dead Red – Boosts hitting against any fastball, including cutters and sinkers. Perfect for crushing early-count fastballs. Breaking Ball Hitter – Gives a boost against sliders, curveballs, and other breaking pitches. Bad Ball Hitter – Helps maintain solid exit velocity even when swinging at pitches outside the strike zone. First-Pitch Hitter – Provides a bonus on the very first pitch of an at-bat. Great for jump-starting your offense. Unfazed – Activates when the batter is down to two strikes, giving a much-needed confidence boost in clutch situations. Key Pitching Quirks Pitching quirks help maintain velocity, control, and pitch movement, even when your pitcher is tired: Outlier I & II – Pushes your pitcher’s main (I) or secondary (II) pitch beyond standard speed limits, potentially hitting 102+ mph. Break Outlier – Keeps the movement sharp on pitches even as stamina drops. Pick Off Artist – Makes pickoff attempts more accurate and faster, perfect for controlling base runners. Pressure Cooker – Boosts stats when runners are on base, adding clutch performance under stress. Situational & Environmental Quirks Some quirks trigger based on game context, like time, stadium, or inning: Day/Night Player – Activates based on whether it’s a day or night game. Homebody/Road Warrior – Boosts performance at home or away stadiums. Fighter – Gives a surge in the 9th inning or later, helping your team finish strong. Rally Monkey – Helps your team when you’re trailing, giving a morale or performance lift. Active vs. Passive Quirks Understanding the difference is key: Active Quirks – These are situational stat boosts like Dead Red. They have a real impact in-game and are tied to specific cards in Diamond Dynasty. You cannot manually add them. Passive Quirks – These are mostly descriptive, like Bomber (high Power) or Sniper (high Arm Accuracy). They show a player has reached a certain threshold but do not provide an extra boost. By mastering quirks, you can build a lineup that’s tuned for every situation. Focus on Active quirks for real-time boosts and use Passive quirks as indicators of which players excel in their natural strengths. Stack the right quirks, and your team will perform like a pro, inning after inning.
